Description
Pharmacology
Ivermectin, the main ingredient in Soolantra, is part of a class of medicines called avermectins. It helps reduce skin inflammation caused by Demodex mites, which are tiny parasites linked to rosacea, by stopping the release of inflammatory chemicals in the skin.
In studies of skin conditions, ivermectin showed anti-inflammatory benefits when used as a cream. It works by targeting the nervous systems of Demodex mites, binding to specific channels and receptors, which causes the mites to become paralyzed and die. This dual action—fighting inflammation and eliminating mites—makes it effective for managing rosacea symptoms.
