Description
Pharmacology
Ivermectin belongs to the avermectin class. It exerts its anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the production of inflammatory cytokines induced by Demodex mites.
In dermatological inflammation models, the anti-inflammatory properties of topical ivermectin were observed. Ivermectin primarily targets parasites by selectively binding to and disrupting glutamate-gated chloride channels and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors, causing high-affinity interactions that lead to the paralysis and death of parasites.
